Why Box Build with Kingdta?
Consolidating PCB fabrication, PCBA, and box build assembly with a single supplier eliminates supplier coordination overhead, reduces shipping costs, and simplifies quality accountability. When a problem occurs, there is one supplier responsible — not three.
Our box build service is particularly valuable for hardware startups and small-to-medium volume manufacturers who need a flexible, responsive manufacturing partner rather than a high-volume factory with large MOQs.
Turnkey Box Build for a 48V Battery Management System Enclosure
A Swedish energy storage startup manufacturing a 48V lithium battery management system (BMS) for commercial solar energy storage — requiring a complete box build including PCB assembly, enclosure machining, wiring harness, and final assembly.
The Problem
The customer was managing 4 separate suppliers: a PCB fabricator, a PCBA house, a sheet metal fabricator for the enclosure, and a cable assembly shop. Coordinating delivery schedules across 4 suppliers was consuming 2 days per week of the operations manager's time. Supplier finger-pointing when quality issues arose was delaying root cause resolution by weeks.
Key Challenges
- 4 separate supplier relationships to consolidate into one box build partner
- Enclosure requires IP54 sealing with custom gasket — sealing integrity must be verified before shipment
- 48V BMS wiring harness: 23 cables with ring terminals, rated for 60A continuous current
- Final assembly includes torque-critical fasteners (battery terminal connections at 8 Nm)
- CE marking required — LVD and EMC compliance documentation needed
Our Solution
We took over all four manufacturing streams. PCB fabrication and PCBA are handled in-house. The enclosure is machined by our sheet metal partner in Shenzhen with a 5-day lead time. The wiring harness is assembled in our cable assembly department with 100% continuity testing. Final box build assembly is performed on a dedicated assembly line with a torque-controlled screwdriver for all fasteners. IP54 sealing is verified by a 30-minute water spray test on every unit. We coordinate all four streams and deliver complete, tested BMS units to the customer's warehouse. CE technical file documentation is prepared by our compliance team.
Results & Outcomes
"Consolidating from 4 suppliers to Kingdta for our box build was transformational for our operations. We went from spending 2 days a week on supplier coordination to receiving complete, tested units at our warehouse. The quality accountability is completely clear — one supplier, one point of contact, one set of quality records."
