BOM Requirements & Template

A well-prepared BOM is the single most important factor in getting an accurate quote and avoiding production delays. Here is exactly what we need.

Required BOM Fields

Quantity per Board	Required	Total quantity, not per reference designator
Manufacturer Part Number (MPN)	Required	Full MPN including suffix (e.g., GRM155R61A105KE15D, not GRM155R61A105)
Manufacturer Name	Required	e.g., Murata, TDK, Texas Instruments
Component Description	Required	e.g., 1µF 10V X5R 0402 MLCC
Package / Footprint	Required	e.g., 0402, SOT-23, QFN-32, BGA-256
DNP (Do Not Populate)	Required if applicable	Mark clearly: DNP, NF, or leave Qty = 0
Approved Alternates	Recommended	List alternate MPNs if original is out of stock
Customer-Supplied	Required if applicable	Mark components you will supply separately

✗ Incomplete MPN (e.g., 'GRM155R61A105' without suffix)

✓ Always include the full MPN with all suffixes. The suffix encodes critical parameters like tolerance, temperature coefficient, and packaging.

✗ Reference designators don't match PCB

✓ Copy reference designators directly from your PCB design software. Mismatches cause placement errors and require manual correction.

✗ No DNP marking for unpopulated components

✓ Clearly mark all DNP components. We will populate everything in the BOM unless marked DNP.

✗ Generic descriptions without package (e.g., '100nF capacitor')

✓ Always include package size. A 100nF capacitor could be 0201, 0402, 0603, or larger — and the footprint determines which we can place.

✗ BOM in image format (screenshot or PDF scan)

✓ Provide BOM as Excel (.xlsx) or CSV. We cannot process image-format BOMs efficiently.

Use our standard Excel BOM template to ensure all required fields are included. The template includes example rows and field descriptions.
