Automotive PCBA: Quality Requirements

Automotive electronics must withstand operating conditions far more demanding than consumer or industrial electronics: ambient temperatures from -40°C to +125°C, vibration and shock from road conditions, exposure to moisture, salt spray, and automotive fluids, and service lives of 10–15 years with zero field failures expected.

Component qualification for automotive applications follows AEC-Q standards (AEC-Q100 for ICs, AEC-Q200 for passive components). Kingdta sources AEC-Q qualified components for automotive projects and maintains traceability records linking each component to its manufacturer, lot number, and date code.

Process control in automotive PCBA requires statistical process control (SPC) monitoring of critical process parameters, 100% AOI and X-ray inspection, and documented corrective action processes for any defects found.
